A beloved cultural landmark in the heart of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the Stefanie H. Weill Center for the Performing Arts has been captivating audiences since 1928. Known for its stunning Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, originally crafted by the Milwaukee Theatre Circuit of the Universal Pictures Corporation, the Weill Center stands as a testament to the golden age of cinema and live performance.
As Sheboygan continues to grow, so too does the need to enhance the Weill Center’s offerings for its loyal patrons and hardworking staff. In response, the Weill Foundation has embarked on an exciting new chapter: a significant expansion to elevate the audience experience and accommodate the evolving needs of the community.
Rickman Architecture + Design (RAD) has been proud to partner with the Weill Foundation since 2022, thoughtfully designing an 18,000-square-foot expansion to the existing 44,500-square-foot facility. This next phase includes a spacious new lobby, vibrant bar areas, a rooftop deck, modernized offices, and essential back-of-house support spaces.
Blending old and new, the design introduces a fresh aesthetic to both the façade and interior while thoughtfully preserving the historic charm and architectural legacy of the original theater.
Construction is set to begin in September 2025, ushering in an exciting new era for one of Sheboygan’s most cherished venues.
