The City of Refuge is a faith-based organization located in Atlanta, Georgia that helps families and individuals transition out of crisis. This one-of-a-kind organization offers health & wellness, housing, job training and youth development in the middle of one of Atlanta’s most historic and struggling neighborhoods where nearly 40% of the residents live below the Federal Poverty Level. In a time of need and fundraising, RAD delivered schematic design and visioning for a new 36,000 SF mixed use facility. Along with these visuals, Bruce Deel was able to raise the funds and the next phase of design & documentation was able to commence. This ground up facility provides 25 affordable housing apartments, along with a medical clinic, credit union, fresh market and a co-working space which will all aid in the transformation of the lives this organization impacts. There is no better example of a project where architecture can serve as a catalyst for doing good, and we are appreciative and thankful for the City of Refuge allowing up to team with them on this effort.
