Welcome Center in Villa rica, ga

Originally founded during the Georgia gold rush of the 1830s, Villa Rica, Georgia—known as the “city of Gold”—has experienced exponential population growth during the last 20 years. RAD was commissioned to transform a historic auto repair shop named “Butterballs” in downtown Villa Rica into the new Villa Rica Welcome Center. In this adaptive reuse project, RAD maintains the classic architectural details of the original auto-shop while retrofitting the space to serve as a warm and modern facility that connects visitors to everything Villa Rica has to offer.

VILLA RICA, GEORGIA

When the City of Villa Rica needed a fresh adaptive reuse design for an existing, prominent structure in downtown they came to RAD. This Welcome Center will serve as the hub of information for all things that make Villa Rica an amazing destination to discover.

For those who don’t know, Villa Rica was the original “City of Gold.” That’s right, not those jerks in Dahlonega. We even have a super sweet Gold Museum where you can pan for actual gold in Stockmar Park. Then run down to Gabe’s for some of the best food you’ve ever eaten, and finish off the day at Hixtown Brewing with some delicious local brews.

RAD was able to somehow extract the essence that is Villa Rica and inject this charm and delight into a building design. To this day I am unable to intellectually comprehend just how they accomplish such meaningful design.
